How it works
Players place their bets before the start, then the multiplier rises from x1 and crashes at a random moment. Those who cashed out in time get their bet x the multiplier at the moment of cash out, and the rest lose their bet. Often a player can place two bets in one round and set an auto cash out at the multiplier they want. The crash point is chosen by the RNG, usually before the round even starts.
This is how the maths is usually built: whatever multiplier the player picks, on average they lose the same share of the bet, 3% at 97% RTP. A cash-out strategy changes the variance, but not the house edge.
What matters to the operator
- Pace: a round lasts seconds, and the next one starts almost immediately. The player decides to cash out on the fly, and the session easily drags on.
- Social features: a shared chat and a real-time feed of other players' bets and cash-outs. They engage, but they also nudge players to bet more, following others.
- Wagering: crash games are often excluded from wagering or given a low contribution. Many have an RTP of around 97% or higher, and the player picks the risk of every bet, from an almost certain x1.01 to a rare x100.
- Fairness check: in many crash games the result of a round can be verified by its hash. Support should know how to show this to the player.
Responsible gambling
The fast pace and the urge to chase losses make crash games a focus area for responsible gambling. Watch for long sessions, bets rising after losses, repeat deposits within one session and night-time play. In some markets the licence restricts autoplay and game speed: check how this applies to crash games.
Self-excluded players, players with limits and players showing risk markers get no offers for crash games, just as for any other games.
Common mistakes
- Leaving crash at 100% contribution. Low targets make wagering cheap and steady, while high ones turn the bonus into a lottery.
- The bet limit ignores two bets per round. During wagering, apply the limit per round, not per bet.
- Promos in the shared chat. Everyone sees the chat, including players with limits and risk markers who are not shown offers.
