Formula and example
Counted towards wagering = bet x game weightingA €100 bet on blackjack at 5% weighting: €5 counts towards wagering.
A typical table
| Games | Weighting | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Slots | 100% | the main games for wagering |
| Slots with RTP of 97% and above, bonus buy | 0-50% | wagering is too cheap |
| Roulette | 10-20% | low house edge |
| Blackjack, baccarat | 0-10% | house edge of about 0.5-1.5% |
| Live casino | 0-20% | tables with a low edge |
The figures are indicative: every operator has its own table.
The logic: wagering should cost the same
Weighting evens out the cost of wagering across games. In a slot with an RTP of 96%, every €100 of wagering costs the player €4 on average. In blackjack with a 0.5% house edge, the same €100 would cost €0.50, and the bonus would be cleared almost for free.
At 5% weighting, the player has to bet €2,000 on blackjack to count €100. The expected loss is €10: wagering costs about as much as in slots again. Effective RTP under wagering helps you compare games.
Common mistakes
- Setting 100% for every game. Wagering moves to tables and live games with the lowest house edge.
- Hiding the table in the general terms. Players find out about it when their wagering stops moving. Show the weighting next to the bonus.
- Not updating the table. A new provider with 98-99% RTP games quietly makes wagering cheaper for every bonus.
