What it is counted on
Wagering is most often counted on the bonus amount. A deposit plus bonus base is also used: at the same x40 on a 100% bonus, it is twice as hard for the player. State the base clearly in the terms: a dispute with a player almost always starts with an unclear base.
What wagering to set
On the market, welcome bonuses most often come with x35-x40. This is a benchmark for analysis, not a target. Terms are calculated from your own maths and player behaviour: the lower the wagering, the more expensive the bonus and the stricter the win cap it needs.
Low wagering, x5-x10, suits cashback and VIP offers with a win cap. High wagering, x35-x40, is for welcome packages. Above x40 players hardly ever finish, and the bonus stops working as a reason to play.
How much time to give
The wagering period depends on the wager: the more the player has to bet, the more time they get.
| Wager | Wagering period |
|---|---|
| x40 | at least 72 hours |
| x30 | at least 48 hours |
| x20 and below | 24 hours |
Give an inactive player at least 72 hours to activate an offer: someone who has not logged in for a long time will not see it within a day.
What wagering needs to work
- Game weighting. Slots usually count 100%, roulette and live games less. Otherwise the bonus is wagered almost risk-free.
- Minimum and maximum bet while wagering. The maximum keeps the bonus cost in check, the minimum cuts off hours of wagering with tiny bets.
- Minimum and maximum deposit in every bonus.
- A win cap for bonuses with low wagering.
The bonus cost calculator shows how much a bonus costs at x10, x20, x30 and x40.
