Welcome bonus: the first offer to a new player

Welcome bonus (welcome package) is an offer to new players on the first deposit or a series of first deposits: a deposit bonus, often together with free spins. It is the main tool for turning registrations into first deposits.

How the package works

Most often it is a package for the first 3-4 deposits, each with its own percentage, bonus cap and free spins. Example: 100% up to €200 and 100 free spins on the first deposit, 50% up to €150 on the second, 50% up to €150 and 100 free spins on the third.

The package works as a journey to the second and third deposits: the player has something to come back for before a habit has formed.

  • The maximum in the banner: "up to €500 + 200 free spins". Details do not fit in a banner and do not sell it.
  • All terms before the deposit: minimum and maximum deposit, percentage, wagering requirement and its base, time limit, max bet, max cashout.
  • Free spins all at once, with the game and spin value, not split over several days.

What it costs

The cost of a welcome bonus is not the amount in the banner. Most players do not complete the wagering, and the few who win big cost the most. The bonus cost calculator shows the real cost at different wagering requirements.

Common mistakes

  • No maximum deposit. A bonus on a large deposit costs more than planned.
  • One package for all countries. Amounts and games are chosen for each geo: currency, available games and payment methods.
