Bonus abuse: exploiting bonuses against the rules

Bonus abuse (promo abuse) is extracting value from bonuses against the terms: multi-accounting, risk-free betting, big bets above the limit, restricted games. It is grounds for voiding winnings if the rule is written into the terms.

Typical schemes

  • Multi-accounting: several accounts of one person or household to claim repeat welcome bonuses. One device, one address, similar payment details.
  • Risk-free betting: red and black at the same time in roulette. The wagering keeps counting, and the only loss is on zero.
  • Big bets above the limit on volatile games: the bonus turns into a lottery at the casino's expense.
  • Restricted games and features: wagering on games with zero contribution or through a bonus buy, if the terms prohibit it.

Abuse vs bonus hunting

A bonus hunter plays only with offers and withdraws after wagering, but within the rules. That is not a breach, it is a question of offer economics.

If these players are unprofitable, change the terms and the targeting: the wagering requirement, the cap on winnings, who sees the offer. Winnings from play within the rules cannot be voided.

How to protect yourself fairly

  • Clear rules upfront: max bet, game weighting, prohibited strategies, one bonus per person, household, address and device.
  • Blocking in the interface: a bet above the limit and a restricted game are simply unavailable while a bonus is active.
  • Checks before withdrawal: device, payment details, links between accounts.
  • Voiding only under a clause in the terms that the player saw when activating the bonus.
