Formula and example
Net deposits = deposits minus withdrawals for the periodIn a month a player deposited €10,000 and withdrew €6,500: net deposits are €3,500. If €1,000 is left on the balance, GGR is €2,500.
Net deposits vs GGR
GGR is bets minus wins: money the casino has already won. Net deposits also include money on the balance that has not been played yet and can still be withdrawn. So net deposits show cash, while GGR shows revenue.
Where they are used
- Cash and liquidity: how much money came in and went out, and whether the reserve covers withdrawals.
- A cashback base: simpler to calculate, but it also pays out on money still sitting on the balance.
- Affiliate commission: some contracts use it instead of NGR, which suits the affiliate better than the casino.
Common mistakes
- Reading net deposits as revenue. Money on the balance can still leave as a withdrawal.
- Mentioning them in promos. "We'll return 10% of your net deposits" sounds to a player like a reminder of losing. Promos just say: 10% cashback.
